TYPES OF RACES
GATE START RACES
All riders start on the cement grid in a straight line. A maximum of 6 riders per race..Starter Tapes/Gates are used to begin the race. There are 2 gate races on normal points race days at Murraylands Club.
HANDICAP START RACES

POINT RACING DAYS
Normal racing days, casual riders are welcome to attend, however only members receive finishing points for their races. these points are tallied towards their end of year trophies. Each member must complete 75% of these days (from their joining date) to receive end of year trophies.
every rider on the track gets points - not just the first 4, plus bonus points are given to every rider for being at briefings and clean up
CLOSED CHAMPIONSHIPS
Each club runs closed championships for their members only. They are run the same way as normal points racing days except that medallions or trophies are presented on the day. At Murraylands club each rider must have completed 50% of normal race days since their joining date and have raced in 2 out of the 3 meetings prior to the event to qualify . Medallion Day - Is where every rider on the day gets a medallion, and Club Champion Day same rules to qualify but every rider on the day gets a trophy.
OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
All cycle speedway clubs hold these events at different times throughout the year. Any member of any cycle speedway club may nominate to race in these events. Trophies are awarded to the top four (4) riders in each division ( except for tiny tots and they all receive a momento for participating.) Riders will race 4 gate start races to determine which riders from each age group (with the highest points from first 4 races ) will go into the sudden death finals for their age group for the trophies.
INTERCLUB EVENTS - TEAM RACING
The four South Australian clubs compete against each other for a perpetual trophy. Each club hosts 1 event per year, 6 riders on the grid - 2 from each club - all gate starts for 3 races. Normally the fastest riders from each club (2 or 3 from each division) are selected to represent their clubs team (except tiny tots). Team racing uses a very different style of race tactics than that used for individual racing. Each team races 3 times per year using a bye system. The Teams...
